Jetstar and Qantas double up good news for Wellington

Wellington International Airport is delighted with today's announcements from Jetstar and Qantas.

Jetstar will increase flights between Wellington and Auckland from three to five times daily, along with doubling their Wellington to Christchurch capacity to two flights a day from February 2011.

"Jetstar's announcement is fantastic news for Wellington travellers giving them access to even more low fare tickets on our busiest domestic routes" said Steven Fitzgerald, Wellington Airport CEO.

In another announcement Qantas has confirmed it will be introducing three brand new B737-800s from February 2011. Two of these aircraft will be based in Wellington, flying on the Sydney and Melbourne routes.

Qantas's new aircraft provide an additional 26 seats per flight adding significant capacity on these key routes. They also significantly enhanced the customer experience and include the following features; over 300 inflight entertainment options accessible from every seat, a 37-inch seat pitch in Business and 30-inch seat pitch in Economy, and PC and USB ports in both cabins.
"The new aircraft will be extremely popular with regular trans-Tasman travellers, who will welcome the introduction of a state of the art customer experience" Steven added.
