Extra Jetstar flights welcomed by Christchurch Airport
“The announcement that Jetstar is putting on three extra flights a day from Christchurch is welcome news,” said Christchurch International Airport Chief Executive Jim Boult. “It helps replace the flights lost from Pacific Blue’s withdrawal from the domestic market, and provides an extra boost for our tourism industry.”
Jetstar is further developing its domestic flights by providing 717,000 extra annual seats for New Zealand routes, which will give it nearly 20% of the domestic market.
“The additional aircraft will be based at Christchurch Airport, which has been Jetstar’s base since the inception of its New Zealand operation,” said Jim Boult.
“In light of the earthquake, it’s wonderful to get good news like this, which supports the ongoing growth of tourism in our region. We invite people to come visit the region - there’s great snow at the local ski-fields and key attractions in Canterbury are open,” said Jim Boult. 99% of all tourism operators in Christchurch are now fully functional and they are preparing for an influx of visitors during the upcoming school holidays.
