McCashins (but not Macs) launches a new range of craft beers in Nelson
Reborn Stoke Brewery McCashins has chosen this Friday’s ‘Spring Beer Fete’ at Founders Park, Nelson to launch their new range of “Stoke” beers on tap. Stoke Gold, Stoke Amber and Stoke Dark ae the first new beers to come out of the old Mac’s brewery in Stoke for many years.
The McCashin family began brewing beer at the Stoke plant in 1981 and were the first Kiwi craft brewery to threaten the duopoly of DB and Lion Nathan. in 1999 Lion Nathan bought the brewing rights to the Mac's brands. Operations at the Stoke brewery ceased in August 2008, but in April 2009 the McCashins family took back management of the site, which had been leased to Lion.
The new Stoke beers are already hitting supermarket shelves and the keg versions will start pouring from taps at this Friday’s Nelson Beer Fete, a regular event promoted by Nelson craft beer promoters Dead Good Beer Events (DGBE).
As well as the Stoke range being tasted on tap for the first time, Fete attendees will be able to taste offerings from Kiwi craft breweries Epic, Emerson’s, Founders, Tuatara Hefe, Townshends, Invercargill, Renaissance and Wigram.
The Spring Nelson Beer Fete takes place on Friday Sep 17th 5-10.30pm $10 admission includes souvenir glass and 1st drink free. More info at www.deadgoodbeerevents.com and www.mccashins.co.nz
