Axis strengthens thermal network camera range
Axis strengthens its thermal network camera offering with
models for wide range coverage
Auckland, New
Zealand – 15 September 2010: Axis Communications today
introduces AXIS Q1921 and AXIS Q1921-E Thermal Network
Cameras. The enhanced resolution and the large variety of
lens alternatives ensure improved image quality and
detection range. The new cameras are ideal for cost
efficient 24/7 area or perimeter surveillance of all
security applications such as roads, tunnels and
airports.
“Following the successful launch of the AXIS Q1910/-E, our first thermal network cameras earlier this year, we are proud to announce the addition of the AXIS Q1921/-E. We have satisfied customer demand by adding features such as improved detection range, wide area coverage and increased flexibility provided by lens alternatives”, says Wai King Wong, ANZ Country Manager, Axis Communications. “With the AXIS Q1921/-E customers can implement affordable and flexible area and perimeter detection that suits their individual needs. The AXIS Q1921 and AXIS Q1921-E can be easily integrated into any network video system and offers the added capabilities of thermal imaging.” he concluded.
Thermal cameras create images based on the heat that always radiates from any object, vehicle or person. This gives thermal cameras the power to see through complete darkness and deliver images that allow operators to detect and act on suspicious activity. Thermal cameras can also handle many difficult weather conditions better than conventional cameras, e.g. allowing operators to see through haze, dust and smoke.
AXIS Q1921 is designed for indoor surveillance, while AXIS Q1921-E is an IP66-rated, outdoor-ready camera. The four available lens alternatives 10 mm, 19 mm, 35 mm and 60 mm; the 384x288 resolution and the advanced image processor further improve effective area and perimeter surveillance. The cameras allow detection of people at a distance ranging from up to 200 m/220 yd. with a 55° field of view, and up to 1200 m/1300 yd. with a 9° field of view. In addition, they support key IP-Surveillance features such as H.264 and Motion JPEG, two-way audio, local storage and Power over Ethernet. Intelligent video is a key component of any thermal camera, and AXIS Q1921/-E provide tampering alarm, motion detection, and support for AXIS Camera Application Platform which hosts specially developed applications that can be downloaded and installed on Axis network cameras.
AXIS Q1921/-E Thermal Network Cameras are supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner program as well as AXIS Camera Station. They also support the ONVIF specification for interoperability of network video products. The cameras will be available in September 2010 through Axis’ distribution channels.
