Spicing Up Optimism
For Birkenhead company, Spice n Easy NZ Ltd, facing the business world with positivity and optimism has been rewarded at the 2010 Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards.
The cuisine company, which sells packaged authentic Indian recipe kits, won the Enterprise North Shore Committed Optimist Award after impressing the judges with their inspirational upbeat, impassioned and thriving business approach.
Spice n Easy recipe kits – which include all specialist ingredients - were created to fill a gap in this niche market, be easy to use and educational. Recipes from the company’s family and friends were trialled at special cookery classes at a local community centre with the most popular recipes converted to kit form. The classes proved so popular they continued up to three times a week.
“The customer needs to see what they are getting in order for our product to stand out from the others in the market,” says Spice n Easy director Vibha Soni, “So with Spice n Easy - you see what you get … which is authentic Indian cuisine.”
Judges selected the finalists for this category based on the positivity and optimism shown amongst the 144 overall entries.
Enterprise North Shore chief executive Terry Hoskins believes optimist plays an important role for business success. “Our Committed Optimist campaign was hugely successful during recent economic hardships, offering an extra tool to business’ survival tactics. Spice n Easy understands that taking a realistic but positive approach is often a self fulfilling prophecy – helping to push the business forward no matter what challenges are faced.”
