Wellington businesses win Intl. Marketing award
Two Wellington businesses, Loyalty New Zealand and Datam, have won an international Direct Mail (DM) Award for the industry leading Fly Buys Point Summary mailing.
Loyalty New Zealand CEO Lance Walker says this accolade, won in the Asia Pacific and Japan HP Digital Print Awards, is one that he is very proud of.
“Winning this award shows Fly Buys’ direct marketing is up there with the best in the world. Wellington based businesses earning recognition for innovation offshore can only benefit the city’s reputation as the creative Capital.
“Our Points Summary* goes to 60% of New Zealand households four times a year. It’s been recognised as an engaging, modern and cohesive piece of DM. This year we have moved to full colour and more personalisation for Fly Buys Members, simultaneously reducing our carbon footprint because of reduced envelope size and less paper.
Datam spokesperson David Allen says, “It’s been a great journey with Loyalty NZ and the judges who included Alex Lim, creative Director, Publicis Singapore and Jon McKenzie, Digital Creative Director Leo Burnett, commented ‘that the new look loyalty statement showed that with great design thinking and an unperpinning data strategy, this communication represented – best in class. It was the stand-out entry in what is a hotly contested catogory’.”
The Awards were founded by Hewlett Packard Indigo in 2008 to recognise outstanding achievements and innovations in the print and packaging industries across Asia, including Australia and New Zealand.
Highly qualified leaders from the graphics arts, packaging and media industry from around the world judged the entries based on the degree of innovation and creativity, marketing appeal, best use of digital technology, paper selection, best use of ink and colour, finishing and packaging and overall aesthetics.
There were more than 300 entries in the Awards and 24 winners in the different categories were recognised at a gala dinner on September 7 in Seoul as part of the DSCOOP conference. It’s the first time that printer Datam and Loyalty New Zealand have won this award.
