Manuka Health New Zealand finalist in NZTE International Business Awards

Honey health science company Manuka Health New Zealand is celebrating its confirmation as a finalist in the 2010 New Zealand International Business Awards.

Manuka Health was named today as a finalist by government economic development agency New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the awards organiser.

Manuka Health is a finalist in the “Best Business Operating Internationally” award category.

Chief Executive Kerry Paul said today’s announcement recognised the company’s outstanding growth since its start-up in 2006.

Manuka Health currently sells more than 70 nutraceutical, supplement and medical device products to more than 40 markets and has sales growth of around 50% annually.

Mr Paul said the growth had been achieved through the rapid deployment of an international distribution network and by a focus on using scientific research to demonstrate unequivocally that its products deliver health benefits.

“Each of our products contains a lead compound which has been shown by scientists to be effective in a clinical situation – methylglyoxal in manuka honey is effective for bacterial infections, and caffeic acid phenethyl ester in propolis is effective for blocking the growth of some tumors.”

“We are the only bee products company to certify the level of these active ingredients in our products.

“In our first three years of business we have successfully achieved our aim of building a profitable business generating positive cashfow. This is the platform from which we will launch our new generation of nutraceutical and medical device products capable of helping people overcome adverse health conditions.”
