Breathtaking collection of prestige cars hits the auction floor
Turners Auctions even stunned at the array of outstanding cars on offer

Never before has Turners Auctions seen an auction line-up quite like this. Featuring two Rolls-Royce Phantoms, three Porsche Carreras, and a host of rare luxury vehicles, Turners is describing the catalogue for its upcoming prestige auction on the 11th September as their most prestigious yet.

The centrepiece of the auction catalogue is a 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom; bought brand new in 2003 for $1,000,000 this car is one of only three in New Zealand and is estimated to sell for upwards of $300,000.

“We’re pretty stunned with the prestige collection we have up for auction this time around, and the 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom is the pinnacle of every luxury car-lover’s aspirations. We expect interest in this car to be extremely high, both here and overseas,” says Graham Roberts, Chief Executive at Turners Auctions.

The other Rolls-Royce Phantom going under the hammer is a classic 1967 model, which was once one of the Lord Mayor of London’s official town cars. This stunning piece of motoring history is a collector’s dream, and is expected to fetch between $75,000 and $100,000 under the hammer.

“These cars will no doubt make car collectors around New Zealand quiver with excitement, but we’re also getting a lot of enquiries from wedding car operators and other businesses, so it’s anyone’s guess as to who will drive them away,” says Roberts.

Another star on offer is a very rare 1989 Lamborghini LM002. One of only 25 in the world, this 5.2L V12 beast was designed and built for the Italian Army and would be perfect for anyone who wants to make a statement. The car has been through a leg of the Thailand Gumball 3,000 with a disused AK47 mounted on its back, a throwback to its unsuccessful military career.

For those looking for a little more class, Turners also have a 2004 BMW 645Ci that will be selling at no reserve, and a stunning gold-coloured 2003 Bentley Arnage T that’s expected to sell under the hammer for around $40,000 - $60,000.

And for those looking for a Bentley with a whole lot of personality look no further than the next offer.

“The 1996 Bentley Azure is jet black, with a stunning red interior. But the piece de resistance of this car is the black skull on the centre of the bonnet, complete with flashing red eyes,” says Roberts.

The prestige auction, which gets underway on Saturday 11 September at 12pm, features 21 vehicles with an estimated value of around $2.4 million. Turners Auctions are sure this is the most extensive, extravagant and exciting prestige line-up they have ever housed.

A collection of more than 50 rare number plates will also be auctioned off individually by Turners Auctions, so that buyers can pick up a plate for their new purchase. Valuable plates such as “T”, “MAORI”, “GOLD”, “69”, “DEVIL”, “ENVY”, “LUST” and “JESUS” will all be up for grabs, along with many more.
