Post Disaster Reconstruction – Project Management Skills Required
The Project Management Institute of New Zealand (PMINZ) has made a donation of $1000 to the appeal fund for victims of the Christchurch earthquake. In the wake of the earthquake and the initial review of damage to buildings, houses and infrastructure in the region, PMINZ’s members will be called upon to make a valuable contribution to the planning and rebuilding of the region over the coming months and years.
“It is not just a matter of demolishing and replacing” said PMINZ President, Karen Clarke, “there is a real need to look at the bigger picture and ensure re-building provides benefits to the future economic and social wellbeing of the region”. To re-build a community after such a disaster will need Project Management skills and experience across all sectors.
