Travel unleashed on Trade Me

Travel unleashed on Trade Me

Online marketplace Trade Me has launched a new ‘Travel, events & activities’ category today. The category features on the homepage of the main Trade Me auction site.

Alex Fala, head of Trade Me Travel, said the new category was exciting as it would let people auction off pretty much anything related to travel and tourism in New Zealand.

“We’ve already got accommodation from around New Zealand at $1 reserve, and there are some cool international holidays being sold too. Kiwis will be able to buy and sell everything from gift vouchers and bungy jump experiences, right through to event tickets and flights,” he said.

Travelbug, Trade Me’s existing accommodation booking website, was launched three years ago and is heavily involved in the new offering. Travelbug listings on Trade Me will feature deals from its existing operators. Mr Fala said one of the key benefits of these listings is that they will provide buyers with a clear indication of the exact valid travel dates.

“There won’t be any mucking around with negotiating dates that suit the operator. All Travelbug auctions will be able to be confirmed instantly on the Travelbug website.”

He said there was no requirement for operators wanting to list auctions in the new category to be existing Travelbug partners. “All you need is a Trade Me account and a desire to get involved – the opportunity is open to all players.”
