New Kiwibank Chief Executive appointed
Kiwibank Chairman Rt. Hon Jim Bolger announced today the appointment of Paul Brock as the bank’s new Chief Executive.
Mr Brock was part of the original team that created Kiwibank in 2002. He has held a number of key positions within the bank, including General Manager Marketing and most recently General Manager Savings and Transactions. He has also stepped into the role of Acting Chief Executive over the last few years.
Mr Bolger said Mr Brock had been chosen from a field of high quality national and international applicants.
“Paul has played a key part in Kiwibank’s success since its creation and has the skill and leadership which will help the bank go from strength to strength and help continue to change the shape of banking in New Zealand.
“It is a tribute to the development of the senior management under Sam Knowles that the Board of Kiwibank was able with confidence to appoint a top quality internal candidate to drive the next phase of the bank’s growth,” Mr Bolger said.
New Zealand Post Group Chief Executive, Brian Roche, also welcomed Mr Brock’s appointment.
“Paul will bring significant value by continuing the innovation and values that Kiwibank is renowned for while contributing to the wider New Zealand Post Group Executive Leadership Team.”
Mr Brock is relishing the opportunities which will come with the new role.
“I’m excited at the prospect of helping Kiwibank continue to be a challenger brand, delivering value to all New Zealanders. In tough economic times banks need to work harder to assist their clients,” said Mr Brock.
Mr Bolger thanked departing Chief Executive Sam Knowles for the 10 years he has dedicated to creating a successful and well-respected major bank.
“Sam’s leadership and integrity were key to getting Kiwibank where it is today. He has been a strong advocate for making banking responsible to New Zealand and New Zealanders and this legacy will continue. I and the Board wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”
Mr Brock will move into the role of Chief Executive immediately, with supporting transition from Mr Knowles to the end of September.
