Draft Standards for Ultra Fast Broadband Released
The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) is seeking public feedback on its Draft Standards for the government’s
proposed Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) proposal.
The Draft standards, available on the TCF website, are one of the major milestones on the way to building a future-proofed network for all New Zealand, says TCF chief
executive, David Stone.
“This is an important step for both the UFB process and for the industry as a whole. We’ve come together to work on the
detail that will provide the framework needed to deliver on this mammoth project.”
Stone says the standards drafted by the TCF working party provide a clear direction on how the UFB will operate.
“There’s a tremendous amount at stake here, not just in terms of cost but also in a broader economic sense. New Zealand
can’t lag behind the rest of the world in the move to this kind of capability and the TCF is determined that we, as an
industry, play our part constructively and openly.”
The TCF is calling for feedback on its proposal and will be holding workshops in Auckland and Wellington in conjunction
with Crown Fibre Holdings, the government agency that is leading the UFB initiative. Submissions close at 5pm on 17
September 2010.
