Major Services Group Brings New Face To Market

Major Electrical & HVAC Services Group Brings New Face To Market

Customers are relying on international specifications and seeking international supply agreements

New names, wider range of capabilities for major electrical and HVAC services group

Commitment to offering new and advanced solutions to the New Zealand market

Some of the world’s most recognisable brands were once known by a very different name. Brad’s Drink changed to Pepsi. Google used to be known as BackRub. These changes can occur for a variety of reasons, often signalling to customers a better offering. It’s for exactly this reason that Norfolk Group’s New Zealand business is making some changes over the coming months.

“With a changing New Zealand market and growth across Australasia, customers are relying on international specifications and seeking international supply agreements” says James Fletcher, General Manager, Norfolk New Zealand. “In response to this, and to a renewed commitment to deliver an even wider range of solutions and a more integrated offering in New Zealand, two of Norfolk’s businesses are to have a new face to the market”

Climatech, one of New Zealand’s largest HVAC services providers will become Haden and Newpower Electrical, its sister specialist electrical business will become O’Donnell Griffin

Haden is a highly specialised heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC & R) company. Since 1816, Haden has developed a reputation in the industry for quality, technical expertise and innovation in engineering, design, installation, and flexible servicing for a wide range of HVAC & R and building services. Haden is one of the largest HVAC maintenance business in our region, with particular expertise in more technically demanding projects.

O’Donnell Griffin has the capability to provide electrical and data communications solutions for new projects, upgrades to existing sites, and the ongoing service and maintenance of these sites. O’Donnell Griffin is one of the largest electrical & communications specialists in Australasia, with a focus on ‘mission critical’ projects.

“In New Zealand, Norfolk companies have been involved with some of the country’s most demanding projects” said Mr Fletcher “We have experience across a broad range of industry sectors including, rail, resources, health, industrial, commercial, power, agribusiness, and communications”

Resources In the resources sector, the New Zealand HVAC business, now known as Haden, is in the process of designing, supplying and installing the HVAC system for the accommodation units to be installed on the Yolla Oil Rig in the Bass Strait, for Origin Energy Haden Australia already provides HVAC maintenance to Origin Energy’s oil rigs in the Bass Strait, so this brand alignment ensures a total life cycle solution.

Commercial The business, now known as Haden, project managed, supplied, installed and commissioned the complex HVAC systems at the Christchurch Civic Building, which is New Zealand’s first 6 Green Star rated building.

Rail O’Donnell Griffin Rail was awarded a $12m contract in December 2008 for the refurbishment of the electrical Overhead Lines within the Wellington Electrified Rail Network comprising some 160+kms of track, by ONTRACK, the asset arm of KiwiRail Group. Subsequently the refurbishment works have expanded in scope and with the inclusion of the new double tracking and electrification from McKays Crossing to Waikanae, some additional 30km of track, the project now totals over $35m. This builds on O’Donnell Griffins already strong rail expertise provided to such customers as BHP Billiton and being a key partner in the Novorail Alliance (a A$1 Billion upgrade to the NSW Rail infrastructure).

Industrial In the industrial sector, the business now known as O’Donnell Griffin, completed the electrical installation for Solid Energy’s Pellet Plant in Taupo. The plant was a new building established to produce the wood pellets for use in clean burning household fire units. The project involved installing the entire 400V power system and new motor control rooms, as well as commissioning the entire plant.

Power Contact Energy’s new renewable energy Geothermal Power Station in Taupo was opened on the 1st of July 2010. Working with Ormat Pacific, the business now known as O’Donnell Griffin was the key electrical supplier for the development of the Power Station, installing the high voltage and 400V equipment, plus the control and support cabling.

“We are excited about the opportunities ahead and offering a wider range of integrated engineering solutions to the market such as renewable energy solutions, online reporting for service and asset management and a comprehensive Australasian approach to health, saftey and the environment,” said Mr Fletcher, “Our new branding enables us to focus on the key message to our customer of Expertise, Commitment and delivering outstanding Results.”
