Wairarapa’s favourite builder

Media release
5 August, 2010

Wairarapa’s favourite builder

A locally owned and operated builder is taking on the world, or at least the Wellington region, brick by brick.

Jennian Homes can lay claim to the title of the Wairarapa’s favourite builder. In the past year the Masterton-based company has built more new homes in the region than any other builder.

Housing analysis statistics* for the greater Wellington region, including the Wairarapa, Wellington, Hutt City, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast, put Jennian in second equal place overall.

“That’s great going for a rural region alongside its larger Wellington centres,” says a clearly delighted Gareth Norris, managing director of Jennian Homes Wairarapa.

The company is defying the economic odds too, building more houses year on year in a housing market that’s taken a severe bashing from the recession.

Norris attributes this success to trustworthiness. “We give our clients honest prices, and an exceptional level of service throughout the build. Clients pay no more than what we quote, and they know we will be here for years after their home is completed to help with any issues that may arise.

“We are building the community, not just one or two houses,” Norris says. “Our team has more than 30 years’ experience, stretching back to 1979 when my dad founded the family business. During that time we’ve built new homes for more than 2,000 families throughout the Wellington region.

“We’re finding that a lot of customers we’ve built first homes for are now building their second and third homes with us. They trust us. They know they’re dealing with a strong, reliable, local company which prides itself on being part of the community and will build them a great home.”

Norris notes that Jennian Homes has built the largest number of houses in Masterton’s top five streets, ranked by government valuation.  “Those streets are also the newest subdivisions, which goes to prove that building a new home is a good investment.”
