Golden opportunity for Gold Coast property

Golden opportunity for Gold Coast property

Affluent New Zealanders who enjoy owning property and spending holidays in tropical short-haul international destinations are being targeted in a new marketing campaign for a luxury resort on Australia’s Gold Coast.

The Sanctuary Cove residential lifestyle development some 40 kilometres south of Brisbane is an exclusive 474 hectare residential enclave featuring two championship golf courses, four harbours, retail services, and a five star hotel.

A selection of properties within the Sanctuary Cove development is being brought to the New Zealand market by leading real estate agency Bayleys, which has just signed an exclusive agreement with Sanctuary Cove owner Mulpha Australia Ltd.

Constructed over a number of stages from the early 2000s, Sanctuary Cove was the first such coastal development of its type in Australia – requiring a change in Queensland state legislation to enable a rezoning into urban land use. Members of the public can only gain access to the community by passing through secure perimeter checkpoints on both on land and by sea.

Bayleys sales consultant Gary Wallace who is responsible for marketing Sanctuary Cove in New Zealand, said Kiwis were being given the choice of 38 sites – featuring a mix of waterfront real estate, property adjoining the golf course, or hillside locations overlooking the bay.

“New Zealanders have had a long affiliation with owning second homes in tropical locations – most notably Fiji. However, the on-going political situation in Fiji has seen Kiwis shift their focus across to Queensland which offers a similar climate to many of the Pacific Islands over our winter months, but comes with the security of a stable Government and an assured land ownership structure,” Mr Wallace said.

“The flight between Brisbane and New Zealand is just three hours – making destinations like Sanctuary Cove accessible two or three times a year. Brisbane is a highly serviced route from New Zealand – with the likes of Virgin Blue, Jet Star, Air New Zealand and Royal Brunei jointly flying into the city seven days a week and therefore ensuring a competitive pricing structure for fares.

“While the secondary home market for recreational properties in New Zealand has been constricted over the past couple of years, we are only targeting a very specialist buyer audience for entry into Sanctuary Cove. Potential buyers for properties on the Gold Coast are, on the whole, still very well positioned to purchase holiday homes abroad.”

Mr Wallace said that within the Sanctuary Cove development was a range of large-scale recreational facilities, including:
• A world-class marina facility - boasting a 313 berth design with access for boats from 25ft up to 150ft.
• The Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club offering two championship courses of contrasting styles – a private 18 hole championship golf course designed by Arnold Palmer and revered as one of Australia’s most challenging venues, with a sister course currently under reconstruction and scheduled for completion in its new format at the end of the year.
• A high-end retail complex with some 90 specialty tenants including cafes, bars, restaurants, fashion boutiques and art galleries, alongside a newsagents, post office, bank, and pharmacy.
• A five-star Hyatt-branded hotel with 247 rooms, designed in the style of a 1940s Australian colonial homestead.

To support the launch of the Sanctuary Cove marketing campaign in New Zealand, Bayleys is bringing the colour, vibrancy and flavour of Australia into its Central Auckland offices – hosting an Australian-themed night on August 5.

The invitation-only event will feature a gourmet selection of Australian food and beverages – including barbecued prawns, kangaroo burgers, and Barossa Valley wines – interspersed among a tropical vegetation landscape being specially brought in for the night, and golfing lessons from the resident professional at Sanctuary Cove’s golf course. Special high-glow and heat generating spotlights are being brought in for the event to replicate the ‘sunshine’ factor of the Gold Coast.

“The nature of the properties being offered at Sanctuary Cove, and the calibre of potential buyer dictates that the launch of the marketing on August 5 has to be very high-end,” Mr Wallace said.
