New Fertilisers President

New Fertilisers President

The New Zealand Groundspread Fertilisers Association (NZGFA) has a new president. He is Stuart Barwood from Fairlie, South Canterbury. Stuart was previously vice president and replaces Peter Callander who stood down after four years.

The two vice presidents elected were Brent Scully from Winton, Southland, and Dean Brooks from Nelson.

Stuart Barwood said he was taking over the reins of the industry in trying times and his priority would be to spread the message of sustainable spreading.

“We have many companies now who, as fully qualified Spreadmark operators, can place the fertiliser exactly where the farmer wants it,” Stuart Barwood said “Our scheme is a world leader and our operators amongst the world’s best.

“The frustration I have is that politicians, the agricultural sector and the media don’t realise just how professional we have become.

“My priority will be to change that perception.”
