Titirangi Takes Home the Major Awards at 2010 Harveys Annual Real Estate Awards
The Titirangi branch and in particular manager Craig Smith, were the big winners at the 2010 Harveys Annual Real Estate
Awards.
While much of the property market, both nationally and across Auckland, experienced an easing over the previous 12
months, Smith showed that with focussed goal-setting and good people around him, growth in both revenue and sales could
still be achieved. This led to an avalanche of awards.
Titirangi was presented with the Harveys Directors ‘Special Recognition Award’, Smith gained the prestigious ‘Business
Owner of the Year’ award and in partnership with younger brother Brendan, the pair took out the ‘Salesperson of the
Year’ title. They also topped all other Harveys agents nationwide by finishing No.1 for most ‘residential sales’, ‘gross
commission’ and ‘value of property sold’.
Harveys Director Ross Hunter says he can’t recall the last time a branch manager was able to generate such a great
result for an office and at the same time still manage to emerge as the dominant sales agent in the group. ”Craig is a
terrific manager who is also very single minded and focused when it comes to making sales. It was an amazing
achievement.”
Hunter says Titirangi was in the running for the ‘Overall Office of the Year’ award, won by Taupo, one of Harvey’s
largest and consistently most successful offices. “So the ‘Special Recognition’ award is our way of acknowledging the
efforts he has made to not only turn Titirangi around in just over a year but make it a benchmark for other branches to
follow.”
Smith joined long established Blockhouse Bay manager Len Day 15 months ago and the pair now share ownership of the
Harveys Blockhouse Bay, Titirangi and Green Bay offices. Day, who manages Blockhouse Bay, says Smith “sees every
challenge as just another opportunity. He sets high goals for himself and those around him and it is a winning formula.”
Last year Titirangi grew revenue by around 400% on the previous year and increased their total number of sales by 300%.
Smith, who has been with Harveys for 22 years, admits combining the work of running an office and being out in the sales
force on a regular basis “can be pretty time consuming. But while it is working that’s not going to change.” He puts
much of the credit for the unprecedented success Titirangi achieved at the Harveys awards down to the “terrific people
we have, the professional service we offer during the sale period and with our follow-up. The feedback we get from
satisfied vendors generates both new and repeat business.”
Other winners at the 2010 Harveys annual awards were Austin Harris (Taupo), for ‘Auctioneer of the Year,’ David Egan
(Gisborne), for ‘No. 1 Rural Salesperson,’ Meir Alfasi (New Lynn), ‘No.1 Commercial & Industrial Salesperson,’ Cherry Kilgour (Parnell) for ‘Outstanding Achievement in the Auction Arena’ and Melissa Bell
(Manurewa), for ‘Administrator of the Year’.
