Paper Reclaim strike enters third day

Paper Reclaim strike enters third day

Thirty two NDU union members at Paper Reclaim in Penrose are on strike for the third consecutive day.

NDU organiser Syd Keepa says the workers are asking for an increase of $1 an hour to compensate for the constant stream of price increases they face.

“Many of these workers are paid less than $15 an hour. They are bombarded with cost increases from all directions and there is more to come with the rise in GST and flow on inflation in October,” he says.

“They need to get a decent pay rise or they won’t be able to pay their everyday bills.”
