Print from any email device to any HP printer
Print from any email device to any HP printer from anywhere in the world with HP ePrint
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 1 July 2010 – HP today unveiled a revolutionary new category of web-enabled printing solutions that will, for the first time in Asia Pacific, allow consumers and businesses to:
— Enjoy quick, easy, access to popular digital
content(1) via an entirely new web-based printing platform
with HP applications (apps);
— Print from any email
device to any new ePrint-enabled printer from anywhere in
the world through the new HP ePrint platform(1);
— Store documents or files in the cloud and print
direct when needed;
— Manage and customise their full
printing experience through the new HP
ePrintCenter to enjoy relevant, fun and interesting
content that is formatted for efficient printing.
To
showcase these new solutions, HP announced a full suite of
web-empowered e-All-in-One printers for home and business
that start at US$99(2). These are the first web-empowered
and cloud print-enabled printers in Asia Pacific that will
allow instant, direct access to the Internet without
requiring a local proxy PC or web appliance. This means
people will be able to enjoy access to customised pages on
DreamWorks, Snapfish Photos, Tabbloid News, and Google
Calendar directly from their printers– all at the touch of
a finger via HP’s intuitive TouchSmart screen.
“We
are once again revolutionising printing to make
web-empowered, cloud-enabled printing the new industry
standard,” said Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president,
Imaging and Printing Group, HP. “We know that our
customers want an easy way to print their content, anywhere,
anytime. We’re making that a reality today by giving
people the power to print from any web-connected device –
smartphones, netbooks and more – to any printer in our
portfolio above US$99.”
With the explosive growth of
the Internet and smart phones in Asia Pacific in recent
years, the new HP web-empowered printers make navigating
through web content and printing easier for consumers and
businesses.
Research has shown that Asia Pacific is
showing the highest growth in internet households and 3G
technology. By 2013, there will be more than 700 million(3)
internet households, among which approximately 50%( 3) are
in Asia Pacific, and almost one billion(4) smartphones,
among which approximately 35%(4) are in Asia Pacific. These
trends are expected to fuel the demand for the new HP
web-connected printers.
HP ePrint: if you can email it,
you can print it
The HP ePrint platform harnesses the
cloud to break down the barriers of distance and
connectivity and allows people to send the files they want
to print from their mobile devices(1). From an executive on
a train sending a business document using a Palm Pre or
BlackBerry® smartphone to print and picking up the
printouts once he reaches his workplace, to a daughter
sharing the perfect vacation moment with her mom or best
friend by using HP ePrint to send an instant photo postcard
of herself in front of the Eiffel tower. HP ePrint allows
people to print anytime, anywhere.
Every HP web-connected
printer will have a unique simple email address that allows
the sender to deliver a print the same way they would send
an email message. Customers also can send documents to print
through an HP ePrint mobile app on their smartphone device
to a home, office or public print location. Customers will
be able to send Microsoft® Office documents, Adobe® PDFs
and JPEG image files, among others.
Apps platform offers
personalised printing possibilities(1) for consumers and
businesses
With the new HP ePrint-enabled printers,
customers can print free, personalised online content
directly from the Web without a PC. The types of content
available include customised daily news, colouring pages
from popular entertainment properties, personal calendars
and more. These apps are viewable on an extra-large,
intuitive-to-use TouchSmart panel on the new e-All-in-One
printer line-up.
Customers in the region will have access to print apps like Web Sudoku, Quick Forms, DreamWorks, Google Calendar, Tabbloid, Weathernews and Disney.
• With Web Sudoku, people can quickly print brain teasers for light entertainment on the go.
• With Quick Forms, customers can turn plain white paper into notebook paper, graph paper, to-do lists, tic-tac-toe games, music sheets and more.
• To empower busy families, the printer provides one-touch access to fun coloring pages and templates from DreamWorks Animation. Through the DreamWorks Animation app, users also will be able to view movie trailers to upcoming releases without having to log on to a computer.
• From Google Calendar, consumers will be able to print their weekly schedule to place on their refrigerator or bulletin board.
HP is currently working with local partners to create additional apps that are relevant to our area – initial regional content will come from partners from Korea, Japan and Australia.
Later this year, business customers can enjoy print apps from services such as Google Docs for easy document scanning to the web for printing at a later time; Box.net to scan, share, manage and access business content online; Daily Brief for business essentials in one place including calendar, to-do list and news; and Biztree for immediate access to business forms such as invoices, contracts, receipts, legal agreements and checklists.
HP is working
with a select group of developers to refine its beta
software developer’s kit and to add hundreds of print apps
by the end of the year. Developers can request the kit from
the developers tab of the HP
ePrintCenter.
HP ePrintCenter: a home for all things
printing
The HP ePrintCenter is an online hub for all HP
customers to explore new services and customise their
printing experience. For example, people can register their
products and receive updates according to their preferences,
configure their devices, track ePrint jobs, and browse and
suggest new print apps.
