Last call for applications for farm managers
Last call for applications for this year’s Rabobank Farm Managers Program
Applications will close at the end of this month for young farmers to join this year’s Rabobank Farm Managers Program – a course specially designed to strengthen the operational and strategic skills of tomorrow’s farm leaders.
The program, which is now in its fifth year, is modelled on the bank’s highly-respected Executive Development Program (EDP) and covers topics including leadership, business planning, financial and economic management and succession planning.
One of the key focuses of this year’s Farm Managers Program (FMP) will be equipping young farmers with the knowledge and skills to help effectively manage macro agricultural issues – such as water availability, the price of carbon and the expected rapid growth in Asian demand for food and fibre, according to Rabobank business programs manager Skye Ward.
“Agricultural markets are evolving at such a rapid pace that tomorrow’s farm leaders will need to master the art of change management in order to prosper,” Ms Ward says.
“The Farm Managers Program not only provides a forum for young farmers from across New Zealand and Australia to discuss these challenging issues, but also how to drive the strategic direction of their farm business to proactively handle change before it begins to adversely affect their bottom line.”
The 2010 Rabobank Farm Managers Program will be held at Clear Mountain Lodge in Brisbane, Australia from 18 to 22 October, with the number of participants limited to 36. A five-day residential course, the program is subsidised by Rabobank.
