Sales role ‘a perfect fit’ for experienced tourism professional
Queenstown’s largest hotel welcomes a local tourism and marketing professional to its management team just in time for its busy winter season.
Mia McGregor officially joined the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside property as its new Sales Manager this week.
Living in Queenstown region for the past four and a half years after moving to the resort from Dunedin, Mia has gained extensive knowledge of the adventure capital’s sales and marketing industries.
She brings to the role a Bachelor of Commerce degree in management and a wide range of valuable experience from previous positions. Most recently she was Meetings Co-Ordinator at Crowne Plaza Queenstown, Conference Sales Co-Ordinator at Rydges Lakeland Resort, and Marketing Co-Ordinator at Totally Tourism.
At Novotel Queenstown Lakeside, Mia is now responsible for overseeing sales activity for the hotel across all existing and developing segments including FIT (free independent travelers), MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events) and wholesale.
Working alongside her is new Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Holly Cruickshank. Originally from the UK, Holly has a strong marketing agency background which Mia says she hopes will bring a fresh perspective to the property.
The 273-room property boasts an unrivalled in-town location, just steps away from Queenstown’s bars, restaurants and shops, and has an absolute lakefront position.
Jim Moore, Novotel Queenstown Lakeside General Manager, said he was delighted to have Mia and Holly joining the team.
“Mia is an extremely forward-thinking, dynamic and friendly individual who will fit in perfectly here,” he said.
“We’re looking to seeing her in a managerial position at Novotel Queenstown over the extremely busy winter months and for her valued leadership skills in approaching corporate markets further afield such as in Auckland and Australia.”
Mrs McGregor said the move enabled her to extend her abilities in a more flexible role.
“I’m thrilled to be working alongside such a high level of expertise here at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside. The Accor brand has a fantastic reputation in the industry and as a result the winter season is already looking very strong.
“We have a lakefront prime location, there’s snow up on the mountains, and it looks set to be an amazing winter with bookings already extremely strong for August and September in particular.”
