CO Tyres introduce new Goodyear Premium retreads

CO Tyres introduce new Goodyear Premium retreads

A new range of Goodyear premium retreads is now available to New Zealand commercial vehicle operators.

CO Tyres Ltd, Auckland has been appointed by Goodyear Commercial Tyre Systems to manufacture and market their pre-cure retread range in New Zealand.

CO Tyres managing director Garry Carter had been manufacturing Bandag retreads in Auckland for 15 years and after undertaking extensive testing of the new Goodyear Premium retreads, made the decision to introduce the Goodyear system and products.

“I have been in the tyre industry for over 40 years and retreading commercial tyres for 15 years. As an independent manufacturer I have regularly tested competitor product to ensure we were offering our customers the best pre-cure retreads available.

“We have tested over 1000 tyres in all types of applications and the Goodyear premium retread has performed exceptionally well with compounds that have been specifically developed for New Zealand.

“We plan to introduce a full range of rib, drive, lug and industrial retreads and will have a special compound which has been developed for bus operators.

“Bringing a new product to the market has allowed us to have an input into the compounding to ensure we get the best possible material for New Zealand conditions.

“There will be sixteen patterns in the Goodyear range including some unique new ones which have not previously been available in New Zealand. Our production will build up steadily and we expect to have all the patterns available within three months.

“We are confident that the Goodyear systems and technology will deliver a true premium pre-cure retread to New Zealand operators.”

CO Tyres’ manufacturing plant in Auckland has been re-equipped with several key pieces of machinery and production is now flowing into the marketplace.

“Goodyear premium retreads will only be produced in the CO Tyres factory and will be available through Carters Tyres, a wide network of wholesalers and will also be sold through the Beaurepaires national network,” Garry said.

“They are a premium tyre and will compete directly with Bandag. I would not have agreed to introduce this product if I was not confident of its ability to take on the competition and deliver benefits to customers.”
