Building consents: Jennian Homes

Building consents: Jennian Homes

“Build now.” That’s the message from construction industry leader Richard Carver, who is urging prospective home builders to take the plunge to beat October’s GST hike.

“Building a new home is not going to get any cheaper,” says the director of Jennian Homes.

“Houses take several months to build. Our suppliers are putting up their prices and any staged payments that fall after 1 October will incur higher GST, so it makes sense to start building now to lessen the impact.

“When you choose to build with Jennian Homes there are no surprises. We give you a fixed priced contract before we start building your new home, so you know up front what it will cost.”

Recessive market conditions during the past two years have seen large numbers of New Zealanders adopt a ‘wait and see’ approach to building.
“But the simple fact is, putting your money into bricks and mortar remains a solid investment,” Mr Carver says.

He acknowledges this is a volatile time in the building industry. However the trend for new housing consents continues to rise.

The latest building consent figures, published today, show the number of new houses authorised (excluding apartments) rose 15.5 percent in April 2010 – reaching the highest figures since April 2008.

“New Zealanders can be confident that the sector is sustainable,” Mr Carver says, stressing: “It’s important to choose a builder you can trust, with a proven track record.

“Building a new home is the biggest investment you will ever make. When you choose to build with Jennian Homes, you can rest easy knowing your home is in safe hands.

“We pride ourselves on our accountability and robust business practices, as well as industry-leading workmanship. We guarantee the quality of every home we build.

“That’s why thousands of New Zealand families have chosen to build with us over almost 30 years, and that’s why we’re the country’s most awarded builder.”
