Former Banker Named Mortgage Express’ No. 1

24 May 2010: For the third year in a row banker-turned-broker Sue Clydesdale has been named the Top Broker of the Year by Mortgage Express, a nationwide brokerage which is part of the Harcourts group.

The Christchurch-based broker has repeated her success of the past two years by last night being named the winner of the award for settling the highest number of home loans in Mortgage Express in 2009/10 and the award for settling the highest dollar amount in the year too.

Nominated for the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) Broker of the Year award in 2003 and a finalist for the NZMBA’s Christchurch award a number of times, Ms Clydesdale has settled more than $325 million in home loans since joining Mortgage Express in 2002, with a large portion of her business resulting from Harcourts’ referrals.

Before joining Mortgage Express as a broker Ms Clydesdale was a Personal Assistant to successful Harcourts real estate agent Alison Carter. Before that she owned and operated a 24-hour service station following 12 years experience in numerous roles within a major bank.

Mortgage Express CEO Andrew L’Almont says Ms Clydesdale has proven again that she is an outstanding mortgage broker.

“To consistently win these national awards is a major achievement,” he says, “and a credit to the relationships Sue has built and the reputation she has earned through both her hard work and success.”

Commenting on her awards Ms Clydesdale says she is very proud to have won the top two Mortgage Express awards for the third consecutive year.

“I’ve worked really hard in what has been another challenging year in both the real estate and lending markets and it’s great to have my efforts recognised in this way,” she says.

Mortgage Express, established in 1997, is a nationwide mortgage broking business which in 2008 expanded to include an insurance division, Insurance Express. Part of the Harcourts group the company currently has 40 mortgage brokers and 15 insurance advisors around New Zealand who provide access for their clients to 15 mortgage lenders and all the major insurance companies in the country.
