$200,000 up for grabs- Applications close soon for ‘Do your thing’ with an AMP Scholarship
Kiwis wanting to do great things have just a few days to apply for an AMP Scholarship before applications close on 31 May 2010. Once again AMP will be awarding scholarships from a pool of more than $200,000.
Judges will be seeking Kiwis who can demonstrate the courage, passion, determination and commitment to “ do their thing” and make their dreams a reality.
The past 100 winners have included artists, doctors and scientists to performers, songwriters, shearers, sports people, entrepreneurs and teachers, and almost everything in between. Fields of endeavour cover the arts, humanitarian, environmental, sports, medical, science, business/ entrepreneurial and academia.
AMP Sponsorship Manager, Wendy Rayman said, “We've been thrilled to see the incredible diversity and creativity of the applications that have been pouring in from all around New Zealand so far. We are asking Kiwis to tell anyone they know in their community, who could do even greater things with a little help, about “do your thing” and challenge them to apply- whether their thing is a community project, business idea, education, or a dream to represent their country,” she said.
Applications are open to all New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, of any age, background, ethnicity and area of interest.
Aspiring recipients who live in regions where they are offered, can also apply for one of eleven Adviser Regional Scholarships. The Regional Scholarships, worth between $5000 and $10,000 each, are being awarded by AMP Adviser Businesses around the country.
Individuals can apply online at www.doyourthing.co.nz The new website will profile applicants seeking support from ‘do your thing’. Applicants can check out past recipients and their competition online, as well as inviting friends and whanau to contribute to their application.
Since 1998, the AMP Scholarship Programme has awarded 100 Kiwis more than $1 million to help them achieve great things. The 2010 AMP Scholarship Programme winners will be announced at a national black tie dinner in October this year. Applications are open from 15 April to 31 May 2010.
