Wellington realtor wins national rising star award
21 May 2010: A decision to switch from the motor industry to real estate is paying off for Andy Cooling who has added to earlier regional success by being named the Harcourts New Zealand Rising Star of 2009/10.
The real estate professional was presented with the award on Wednesday night. It follows an announcement earlier this month that he was the Rising Star of the Year in the Wellington region of New Zealand ’s largest real estate group for the 12 months ending 31 March 2010.
Mr Cooling, who works from the Paremata office operated by successful Harcourts’ franchise Team MKH Ltd, became a real estate sales consultant last year and has quickly established a strong reputation in his local area.
His national Rising Star award was announced at the Harcourts New Zealand National Awards dinner in Christchurch on Wednesday night, a black-tie event held at the end of the group’s annual conference and attended by around 800 people who together honoured the top offices and individuals in Harcourts New Zealand.
Mr Cooling moved to New Zealand from the United Kingdom six years ago and had a 20-year career in sales and marketing in the motor industry before becoming a real estate sales consultant.
He says he is very proud to have won the national “rookie” award and attributes his rapid rise in the industry to his determination to earn a reputation for all the right reasons. “That means being a good communicator and negotiator, covering the basics well and delivering excellent service to my customers.”
Mr Cooling says the backing of the Harcourts brand and its excellent tools and technology have also contributed to his success.
Head of Real Estate Operations for Harcourts Australasia Bryan Thomson congratulated Mr Cooling, saying he clearly has a bright future ahead of him in the real estate industry.
“Andy’s years of experience in business, sales and marketing are contributing to him becoming one of Harcourts’ highest performers. It’s great to have him someone of his calibre in our team, with the talent and drive to succeed in this challenging but rewarding industry.”
