Enable Networks Recognised for Business Excellence
Christchurch fibre company Enable Networks won the BDO Regional South Island category of the Vero Excellence in Business
Support Awards last night (20 May) at a Gala Dinner at Auckland’s Town Hall, attended by Prime Minister John Key.
The annual awards evaluate and recognise New Zealand’s top performing organisations who have made a difference by
introducing the best products, services or ideas which support business owners.
Each entrant’s performance is benchmarked against other organisations in their sector using the internationally renowned
Malcolm Baldrige method of evaluation.
Enable Networks’ Chief Executive Steve Fuller says the company is delighted to receive such a prestigious award.
“The Vero Business Award is a further endorsement of Christchurch’s investment in its own fibre optic broadband
infrastructure,” he says. “Our goal has always been to deliver world-class services that transform telecommunications
for local businesses and the community and we believe we are well on track to achieve this.
“We have been working hard to rapidly expand the fibre network to meet our goal of reaching 85 per cent of Christchurch
businesses because we believe world-class fibre-optic broadband infrastructure is fundamental to long-term economic
growth in our region,” he says.
In 2009 Enable Networks also won the Service category of the Champion Canterbury awards and were finalists in the TUANZ
innovation awards.
Enable Networks was started in 2007 and has almost completed laying 200 kilometres of fibre optic cables through the
city’s business areas. The network is also connecting local schools and may expand to homes under the Government’s $1.5
billion investment in fibre to the home.
