NZer elected Vice President of CAPA

New Zealander elected Vice President of CAPA

Keith Wedlock FCA, of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA), has been elected Vice President of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) at its Annual General Meeting in Wellington today.

Terry McLaughlin FCA, NZICA’s Chief Executive, said Keith’s appointment was recognition of New Zealand’s accounting expertise in the Asia-Pacific region.

“I congratulate Keith on his appointment. He is highly regarded in New Zealand and continues to contribute to the development of the profession internationally,” said Mr McLaughlin.

CAPA is based in Malaysia and has a membership of 31 organisations in 23 jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific region. This week, 50 accounting and business leaders from 16 countries met at the NZICA National Office and Conference Centre to discuss the latest developments in the accounting profession and share best practices.

Delegates attending represented National Accounting Organisations from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea, Macao SAR, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The various Board and Committee meetings were hosted by NZICA from 19–21 May 2010.

Keith Wedlock

Keith Wedlock is a partner of Glendinnings Chartered Accountants, based in Palmerston North. Keith is a Past President, Councillor and Board member of NZICA. He was also NZICA acting Chief Executive in 2008 as well as joining the CAPA Board that same year.
