Barfoot & Thompson’s $30m leading lady

Barfoot & Thompson’s $30m leading lady no plain Jane

Panmure real estate agent Jane Wang was today announced as Barfoot & Thompson’s Top Residential Salesperson out of more than 1,400 agents across Auckland and Northland.

During the 2009-10 year, Jane sold nearly $30 million worth of properties. She listed and/or sold 110 homes with an average sale price of more than $466,000.

Jane launched her real estate career as Barfoot & Thompson’s Rookie of the Year for 2003-2004, and has this year earned the company’s pinnacle award together with becoming the Panmure branch’s top salesperson for the seventh year in a row.

Managing Director Peter Thompson says Jane’s outstanding sales record over many years was a product of her passion for real estate and lots of hard work.

“Jane has an exceptional work ethic and a real drive to achieve the best for her clients.”

Jane has placed as one of Barfoot & Thompson’s top six salespeople for five consecutive years, twice as number three.

“Her many successes are testament to what can be achieved with diligence and enthusiasm – two traits Jane is very well known for around the office and in her community.”

Even having achieved a top title every year since her first full year in real estate, Jane remains humble.

“To me, it is not whether you are number 1 or number 101, it is about doing your absolute best and being happy in your work,” she says.

True to Barfoot & Thompson’s family values, the mother of two young daughters, 4 years old and 9 months, works alongside her husband and business partner Dragon Zhou.

“It’s great working with my husband, we each bring different strengths and are there to inspire one another.

A self-described “people person”, Jane says she also enjoys working in Auckland’s multicultural community, and has made many strong friendships through her work.

The couple immigrated to New Zealand in 2001, putting skills gained in professions in China to the test in the aggressive Auckland real estate market.

Jane, who holds a Bachelor of Management from the renowned Sichuan University, worked at an importing and exporting business in China for ten years prior to moving to New Zealand.

“I learnt marketing and negotiating skills that have proved invaluable in the real estate industry.”

Now in her ninth year of real estate, Jane says she is focused on continuing to evolve and improve her skills and business, but also looks forward to sharing the knowledge she has gained with colleagues.

Jane was presented with her award today at Barfoot & Thompson’s Annual Convention at Sky City, attended by more than 1,000 of her fellow agents and staff.
