Fitec's looking for 2010 Emerging Leaders - applications are now open
Fitec, the Industry Training Organisation for the forestry, wood manufacturing and furniture industries, is opening applications for their 2010 Emerging Leaders Scholarships.
Ian Boyd, Fitec Chief Executive, says that over the last eighteen months since the initiative was launched, a total of 13 scholarships have been awarded – a reflection, he says, of the calibre of applicants and the interest businesses have in developing future leaders.
The scholarships are an initiative to identify emerging leaders, promote excellence and encourage a higher level of training for those working in the forest and wood manufacturing sectors.
“Successful applicants can choose between an eight-day Outward Bound Navigator Leadership Development Programme, or a three-day NZ Institute of Management Leadership, Motivation and Team Building course,†Mr Boyd says.
“Both courses offer recipients the opportunity to stretch and develop their skills so that they can take on new levels of responsibility and become effective future leaders. Fitec is pleased to be able to help them step up to the next level.â€
Scholarship applications are now open and will close 2 July 2010, with the four chosen recipients being announced in September 2010.
Interested applicants need to be over 21, have at least three years work experience, a minimum of a Level 3 National Certificate and want to be a leader in the forest, wood manufacturing or furniture industry.
