Harcourts launches search for new NZ CEO
2 May 2010: Harcourts has commenced an extensive search for a new CEO for Harcourts New Zealand, which is the largest real estate group in the country and a key part of Harcourts' growing global network, following the internal promotion of the former NZ CEO, Bryan Thomson.
Harcourts International Managing Director Mike Green says Harcourts, which is now in nine countries and is aiming to be in 25 by 2015, is utilising its extensive global network and social media as part of the search, in addition to advertising the role in New Zealand.
"We are looking for an outstanding professional with exceptional skills and a strong track record of success, including at senior management level within the real estate industry, and in order to get the best possible candidate we are using a range of channels to reach potential applicants."
The new CEO will report to the Board of Harcourts New Zealand, which includes the newly appointed Head of Real Estate Operations for Harcourts Australasia, Mr Thomson, who was formerly CEO of Harcourts New Zealand for eight years and remains a shareholder.
As Mr Green explains, the successful applicant will work alongside Harcourts New Zealand Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jo Clifford, who is also shareholder and has just been appointed into this newly created position after 25 years with Harcourts including that past eight years as Harcourts New Zealand General Manager.
"Working with Bryan, Jo and the Harcourts New Zealand corporate team, the new CEO of Harcourts New Zealand will be focused on leading Harcourts to achieve even better results in New Zealand, which is critical market and where our brand was founded more than 120 years ago."
Mr Green says while Harcourts is already the largest real estate group in New Zealand and also has the highest awareness and is the most preferred real estate brand in the country* too, remaining at the forefront of the New Zealand real estate industry is a constant challenge," Mr Green says.
"Together the New Zealand CEO and COO will be focused on the continuous improvement and ongoing innovation needed to keep Harcourts New Zealand and its franchises at the forefront, including the successful delivery in New Zealand of the leading-edge products and services developed for all of our markets by the Harcourts International team."
