ASB offers helping hand to stranded travellers
ASB
Bank has made arrangements to assist customers whose travels
have been disrupted by the volcanic eruption in
Iceland.
Catherine McGrath, ASB Chief Executive,
Customers, Markets and Products, says: “Any of our
customers who have their travel insurance through ASB and
are stranded due to the volcanic eruption, are covered
according to the terms of their policies.”
Customers should in the first instance contact their airline or tour operator to see what help and assistance is available to them.
“We also understand that some of our volcano affected customers may be under short-term financial stress as a result of added expenses from extra accommodation or travel. We have arranged a comprehensive support package to further help these customers.”
This support includes:
Temporary extensions to overdraft or credit card
facilities, subject to normal lending policies.
Fee
waivers for customers who have been charged bank fees as a
result of exceeding credit card or overdraft limits, or who
have been charged fees for late credit card
payments.
“It’s important that our customers call us so we can understand the impacts the volcanic eruption has had on their travel, and the extra costs they have incurred because of this,” Ms McGrath says.
“Customers can call our dedicated help line, or when they return to New Zealand they can visit any branch to discuss their options. We will try, in every way possible, to help ease the stress that our travelling customers will be feeling at this difficult time.”
How travellers can contact ASB
Customers overseas can call +64 9 367 8921. Customers in New Zealand can call the ASB helpline 0800 272 008, or visit any branch of ASB for help.
