Microsoft opens wallet in huge Internet Explorer 8 giveaway

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - 12 April, 2010 - Microsoft New Zealand is today launching a competition that offers New Zealanders the opportunity to win daily prizes using Internet Explorer 8 Web Slice.
From April 12th one lucky winner each day will walk away with a Prezzy Card loaded with $250 cash. Entering the competition is as simple as browsing the web with Internet Explorer 8, installing the Slice of Kevin Web Slice then keeping an eye out during the day for your chance to enter.
Ben Green, Windows Business Group Lead for Microsoft New Zealand says the competition is not only a chance to have a bit of fun, but will provide a simple way to show off the convenience of Web Slices.
"Web Slices are a great way to keep up to date with your favourite websites. They're perfect for keeping an eye on all those important things like cricket scores at www.blackcaps.co.nz, the latest news headlines or even Facebook updates - all without having to switch out of the website you're currently viewing."
The competition is highly interactive and is fronted by Explorer Kev, Microsoft's intrepid Kiwi explorer. Kev will not only tip players off on the best times to enter via updates on Twitter and Facebook, he'll keep everyone entertained in the process, and has additional Prezzy cards to give away randomly to his friends and followers.
Microsoft New Zealand Country Manager, Kevin Ackhurst, fully endorses the promotion, but is quick to point out that he is "no relation to Explorer Kev".
To start playing Slice of Kevin, head to www.sliceofkevin.co.nz. To follow Explorer Kev on Twitter head to www.twitter.com/explorerkev or become his Facebook friend by searching for 'ExplorerKev'.
The competition is only open to Kiwis, and at launch there will be an introductory Web Slice window, opening at 12:01am until 11.59am on Monday 12 April for those people keen to get in early.
