Ports of Auckland’s new electronic “one stop shop”
InterACT – Ports of Auckland’s new electronic “one stop shop”
Leading the way for Australasia, Ports of Auckland has combined its suite of information and cargo management systems into one online product on a single platform aptly named - InterACT.
At the launch in Auckland yesterday, Ports of Auckland General Manager Sales & Marketing Craig Sain said that InterACT represented a further move by the port towards providing cutting edge cargo-handling and logistics services.
“InterACT is an exciting development for our customers and one that we believe will be of great benefit to them,” Mr. Sain said.
Empowering the port company’s many stakeholders throughout the supply chain; InterACT allows registered users to connect with Ports of Auckland’s container management systems, displaying in real time all categories of operations.
This includes 'live' alerts on container status changes and updates. Also, as a fully equipped service centre, InterACT enables registered users to order the full range of Ports of Auckland's ancillary services for containers at the Port such as washing, weighing, x-rays and inter-wharf shuttle transfers.
Ports of Auckland Sales, Marketing, & Product Development Manager, Richard Potton explains that the name InterACT indicates close interaction between all the Port's customers including shipping lines, cargo owners, freight forwarders, transport companies, rail and government agencies such as MAF and NZ Customs.
“The concept behind INTERACT was to combine all of Ports of Auckland’s products into one system creating a simple, efficient and time saving tool for our customers” he said.
“One of the many benefits that InterACT offers is the
ability for the user to subscribe to a ‘Supply Chain’
and set up ‘Alerts’ that advise when a container has
been loaded, discharged or gated in or out of the
port.”
InterACT can be used by any party in the Ports
of Auckland supply chain.
Registration is handled by
Ports of Auckland and users gain access to InterACT through
standard browsers such as Internet Explorer, via links on
the Ports of Auckland website: www.poal.co.nz.
