Repco on board with Rally New Zealand 2010
Repco New Zealand is again demonstrating its commitment to world-class motorsport in New Zealand by partnering with Rally New Zealand to support the 40th anniversary of the iconic event in New Zealand.
Rally New Zealand runs between May 6th to 9th this year and is based in Auckland, with the route taking competitors from Whangarei in the north to Raglan in the south.
Mark Brunton, Executive General Manager Repco New Zealand, says that although the company is not the naming rights sponsor this year, Repco continues to see considerable synergies between its business and the enthusiastic followers of the World Rally Championship event.
“We see excellent value in continuing our partnership with Rally New Zealand and we are really pleased to be supporting Rally New Zealand’s 40th anniversary event in 2010,” says Mr. Brunton.
“Rally New Zealand is particularly distinctive in motorsport and it continues to offer excellent opportunities for New Zealand to promote itself as an international high-quality destination for motorsport.
“Many people get a lot of enjoyment from experiencing a world-class event of this calibre first-hand and Repco looks forward to continuing its involvement with Rally New Zealand,” he says.
Chris Carr, Chairman of Rally New Zealand, says having Repco as a partner helps emphasise the event’s appeal to New Zealanders.
“There’s a very natural link between the country’s leading automotive retailer and a high profile international motorsport event like Rally New Zealand, and we’re delighted to have Repco on board as a partner for Rally New Zealand 2010,” says Mr. Carr.
Repco’s key roles for the event include being the main retailer of the official Rally New Zealand merchandise and an easily-accessible outlet for tickets and programmes. Customers are invited to visit Repco’s website www.repco.co.nz for details on the Rally New Zealand merchandise and for online purchases.
New to the event this year is the Hampton Downs Super Special Carnival on Saturday 8th May. The new tarmac circuit is being used for two runs of a super special stage for rally competitors, and the day’s action will be complemented by Red Bull drifting and freestyle motocross demonstrations, other races, displays, activities and the remote service park for WRC competitors.
Tickets for this one-day event are $20 for adults; children under 15 free. The same costs apply for the three other stages: 7th May – Whangarei/Kaipara; 8th May – Franklin/North Waikato; 9th May – Raglan. All tickets will be available at Repco from mid-April.
Complementing the official rally stages are a series of free events including a driver signing and demonstration at SKYCITY Auckland from 2pm on Sunday 2nd May; driver signing and ceremonial start at the Auckland Viaduct from 4pm on Thursday 6th May; and a super special stage through the Auckland Domain from 5:30pm on Friday 7th May.
