Emirates is to add another A380 double-decker to its London Heathrow route from July 1 this year, making the popular superjumbo experience more widely available to passengers.
The airline has been flying its own brand of double-decker, specially equipped with an onboard lounge and shower spas, to the British capital since December 2008. And Auckland-London flights by Emirates A380 have been in operation since February 2009 – the only A380 services between New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
From July, in addition to the EK 001 flight each morning from Dubai, the A380 will also be deployed on EK 003, which departs Dubai at 2.15pm and arrives in London Heathrow at 6.40pm.
EK 001 provides direct connections with all four daily Emirates flights from New Zealand, departing Dubai daily at 7.45am, and arriving in Heathrow Terminal 3 at 12.15 (local time).
The second return A380 flight from London, EK 004, will also provide southbound connections to New Zealand at Dubai, departing Heathrow daily at 8.40pm and arriving in Dubai at 6.30am the following morning (local time).
It is the first route on which Emirates will have deployed A380s on a double daily basis.
Emirates, which has won more than 400 international awards for its products and services, is now operating eight A380s. In addition to London Heathrow, they fly to Sydney, Auckland, Paris, Toronto, Jeddah, Bangkok and Seoul.
Emirates operates 98 non-stop flights per week into the UK. As well as five flights a day to London Heathrow, it operates daily services to Newcastle and Glasgow, a double daily to Manchester and Birmingham and three flights a day to Gatwick.
On March 28, the airline's 100-plus destination route network will be expanded with the addition of Tokyo, followed by Amsterdam in May, Prague in July, Madrid in August and Dakar in September.
