Al Brown supports local market!

PRESS RELEASE

23 February 2010

Al Brown supports local market!

Wellingtonian of the Year and renowned chef, Al Brown, will be on hand to show his support for the new Hill St Farmers’ Market this Saturday 27 February.

Al is a strong supporter of local produce. His approach to cooking is all about simplicity, combined with an element of surprise. “Quality, fresh ingredients are the key” says Al, “and that’s why I like to buy local food whenever I can.’

So naturally he’s also enthusiastic about markets like the Hill St Farmers’ Market which offers a wide range of fantastic local food direct from local producers. At Hill St Farmers’ Market there are over 20 stalls selling everything from organic vegetables (which include fennel bulbs, heritage potatoes, chard, and salad greens) to jams, oils, juice and pizza bases plus fresh Horowhenua vegetables and Wairarapa free range pork and fresh fish.

Al will be at the market signing copies of his new cookbook “Go Fish” and will also be selecting and announcing the winners of the Hill St Farmers’ Market children’s colouring competition.

The Hill St Farmers’ Market will be on rain or shine in the carpark of the Wellington Cathedral on Hill St, Thorndon from 9am-1pm, every Saturday. For more information about the Hill St Farmers’ Market or to sign up to the regular e-newsletter visit www.hillstfarmersmarket.org.nz
