Christchurch’s Newest Hotel Opens its Doors to Job Seekers
Dozens of jobs will be up for grabs this weekend as the city’s newest hotel, The Marque Hotel Christchurch, opens its
doors to job seekers keen to get a foot on the career ladder.
The Marque Hotel Christchurch, operated by Rendezvous Hospitality Group, will be opening its doors in the coming months
and is looking to hire up to 30 staff. The hotel will be holding public recruitment sessions this Friday and Saturday
for potential employees.
The hotel requires experienced kitchen staff, wait staff, cleaners, receptionists, porters, room attendants, chefs and
duty managers.
“A hotel is only as good as its people and we’re keen to recruit the very best,” says Brad Watts, General Manager of The
Marque Hotel Christchurch.
Located in the heart of the city, The Marque Hotel Christchurch occupies 15 floors of the tallest and newest building in
the South Island and boasts 171 guest rooms and suites, as well as a contemporary and vibrant bar and restaurant.
“We’re looking for people who are committed to providing excellent service and who share our passion for what we are
doing. The Marque Hotel Christchurch is the flagship hotel for The Marque brand in New Zealand and we want to make sure
that we not only meet our customers’ expectations, but that we exceed them,” says Mr Watts.
“As someone who started off washing dishes and who has worked their way up through the ranks I know how valuable it is
to learn about this industry from the bottom up. For anyone who is interested in making a career out of hospitality this
is definitely a rare opportunity to get their foot in the door and be part of a team opening a brand new hotel.
“Successful job applicants can expect significant opportunities for career development as The Marque Hotel Christchurch
is part of a rapidly expanding international hotel group.”
Its parent company RHG already operates 13 Rendezvous and The Marque brand hotels in the Asia Pacific region, including
the Rendezvous Hotel Auckland, New Zealand’s largest premier hotel. RHG is intent on establishing itself at the
forefront of the hotel industry in the Asia Pacific region, and has plans to expand to over 12,000 rooms by 2020, with
over NZ$189 million to be invested.
The recruitment sessions will be held in the lobby of The Marque Hotel Christchurch, 166 Gloucester Street, on Friday
February 12 from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday February 13 from 11am to 3pm. Applicants should bring along their CV and be
prepared for an interview.
