Thousands Watch C4's Coverage Of The Big Day Out

Thousands Watch C4's Live Online Coverage Of The Big Day Out

For those not among the thousands of music lovers at the Big Day Out on Friday - C4's online stream provided the next best thing.

C4's exclusive online coverage of the Big Day Out attracted more than 9000 browsers on Friday. This was a 8% increase on C4's 2009 coverage of the Big Day Out with average session duration increasing by more than a minute. C4 streamed live from the event from 11am through to 7pm - and over the course of the day interviewed a host of Big Day Out artists including Midnight Youth, PNC, True Lovers, Minuit, Deja Voodoo, The Temper Trap, Powderfinger, Eskimo Joe and more. Other familiar faces who dropped in to chat included Young Sid, Jason Kerrison (Opshop), Kids of 88, Joel Little (Goodnight Nurse) and The Red Sea Boys. C4's coverage was hosted by Jono Pryor, Ruby Higgins, Drew Neemia and new C4 face Shannon Ryan.

C4 is leading in this type of online coverage - having recently put on New Zealand's first online only event - The Non-Stop Gig - in which Telecom and C4 provided 12 hours of non-stop live music.

Says Amanda Wilson, Associate Director of Marketing for Mediaworks TV - "The increase in visitors to the C4 site on the day suggests C4's viewers are increasingly open to this type of coverage - and we really enjoy the heightened level of engagement it offers. The Big Day Out is an event that we are always excited about being at - and thanks to Telecom we were able to offer fantastic viewing quality "

C4's online broadcast was supported by consistent online chat. Throughout the day C4 viewers interacted by text, forum discussion and via social media.

C4's coverage of the Big Day Out was made possible thanks to Telecom.
