Renovation resolution
Forget giving up smoking, and losing weight, this year New Zealanders have been making the resolution to renovate and repair their homes and tidy up their gardens.
Builderscrack.co.nz, a site where homeowners get quotes from tradespeople, has reported their strongest ever start to the year.
Builderscrack.co.nz director Keith Roberts said ``In previous years early January has been a quiet period for us, but this year a record number of people have been looking for tradespeople to paint the house, fix up the garden, and do the tidy up jobs around the home. A number of people have told us that getting their homes in order has been their New Years resolution. January 1 and 2 were two of our busiest days ever, up 523% on last year’’. Tradespeople have been responding quickly to the new jobs ``A lot of tradespeople we have spoken to are keen to put last year behind them and get a running start at 2010’’.
