Entries To Close In Dairy Awards

Entries To Close In Dairy Awards

Only a few days remain for those interested in entering the 2010 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards, with entries closing Christmas Eve, December 24.

The awards run three competitions – the Sharemilker of the Year, Farm Manager of the Year and Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions – with entrants first competing in one of 12 regional competitions. All three regional winners progress to a national final.

“Entrants gain from the experience of entering, through the knowledge shared by judges and other entrants and from the networks developed and opportunities realised to advance their careers,” National Convenor Chris Keeping says.

“The awards encourage best practice and the sharing of excellence. They also identify and promote the industry’s future leaders.”

The awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.

Mrs Keeping says in 2010 entrants will be competing for more than $700,000 in cash and prizes on offer in the 12 regional competitions and the national final.

Organisers hope that more than 400 people will enter one of the three competitions.

Entry forms in the 2010 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards can be downloaded from www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
