Former Business Roundtable Chair Honoured

Former Business Roundtable Chair Honoured

New Zealand Business Roundtable chairman Rob McLeod today congratulated Commonwealth Bank of Australia chief executive and former Business Roundtable chairman Sir Ralph Norris on being named Executive of the Decade at last night’s Deloitte/Management Top 200 Awards. The previous winner of the award (for the 1990s decade) was long-standing Business Roundtable member and former vicechairman, Dr Roderick Deane.

Mr McLeod said that Sir Ralph, who was chairman of the Business Roundtable from 1999 to 2001 during his term as chief executive of ASB Bank, was an outstanding leader.

“Ralph is one of those rare visionary leaders who, in a quiet and understated way, is able to attract and inspire top people to achieve exceptional results. He has gone on to succeed at the top level of Australian business, while remaining in close touch with New Zealand. The Business Roundtable is delighted to see his extraordinary contribution to business and public affairs recognised in this way”, said Mr McLeod.

Sir Ralph was the keynote speaker at the 2009 Dunes Symposium, the Business Roundtable’s annual public policy forum for emerging business leaders.
