Vodafone welcomes guidelines for community
engagement
Vodafone welcomes the Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) new “Guidelines for Undertaking Community Engagement for Wireless Telecommunications Facilities” and will implement them in its community engagement programme.
The guidelines outline how the network operators should approach the public when constructing networks in residential areas.
Vodafone’s GM of Networks, Mike Davies, says the new guidelines were built in consultation with the public as well as a TCF industry working party.
“Under the new guidelines we notify residents of any intention to build a new site ten days before lodging an application – this gives interested parties an opportunity to get involved if they so choose.”
The aim of these guidelines is to give communities and the industry more time to work together to deliver an outcome that is mutually acceptable.
The guidelines were developed in consultation with the public by a working party of TCF wireless network operators, consisting of Vodafone, Kordia, Telecom and Woosh Wireless – all of whom are expected to commit to these guidelines.
