Mobile Phone Users get Connected-As for less

Nelson, New Zealand - 16 November 2009 – VoicePipes announced today the immediate availability of it's new Connected-As service for mobile phone users offering the nation's lowest cost for mobile-to-landline calling. In announcing the new service, VoicePipes’ Managing Director Mark Sayer explained that Kiwis have been paying inflated mobile rates for too long and he was determined to help. Acknowledging the presence of new entrants 2degrees and Slingshot to the market, he stated that it still hadn't forced the major incumbent operators to lower their prices. “Call prices for both Vodafone and Telecom's new XT network, with a pre-paid plan, are a staggering 89 cents," states Mr Sayer. "These are some of the highest prices for like plans in the OECD.”

The unique feature of Connected-As is that it works with any mobile from any provider. "What we are offering is akin to selecting a long distance provider for your mobile phone, just like you might do with your home phone. Keep you phone that gives you free texts and calling to a couple of mates, then use Connected-As to call everyone else", explained Mark.
