New BatteryBack service
New BatteryBack service to recycle all dry cell batteries
Auckland, 12 November, 2009 – Recytech, a reverse logistics, remarketing and recycling company specialising in electronics and IT assets, today announced a nationwide service to collect all types of dry cell batteries. The ‘BatteryBack’ service means businesses can now easily recycle large volumes of unwanted rechargeable and non-rechargeable dry cell batteries, diverting them from landfill.
BatteryBack collects all D-cell, C-cell, AA, AAA, 9-volt, and button cells. Rechargeable battery packs from mobile phones, cameras, laptop computers, power tools, iPods, PDAs and pagers will also be collected.
“Businesses often lack the processes to easily collect and recycle batteries, leaving them to commercial waste disposal systems, says Kevin Ruscoe, Recytech’s CEO. “We believe BatteryBack will offer a ‘quick win’ to businesses such as hotel chains, property managers and branded service centres which have to dispose of large quantities of old batteries and want to do so in an environmentally responsible but easy to manage way.”
Once collected and sorted, Recytech, manages the processing of the batteries to extract usable resources and ensure that hazardous waste is not dumped in landfill.
BatteryBack is available in four, ten or 20 litre self addressed collection pails and includes pre-paid courier charges, all for a single fee. The service starts from $88 plus GST for a four litre pail, which will carry approximately five kilogram’s of batteries.
