Vodafone faces Commerce Commission charges over adverts
Oct. 22 (BusinessWire) – Vodafone New Zealand faces charges from the Commerce Commission over alleged breaches of the Fair Trading Act over its broadband and mobile phone promotions.
The regulator said in a statement the charges relate to:
• Vodafone’s claimed coverage during its ‘broadband everywhere’ campaign between October 2006 and April 2008;
• the offer of $10 a free airtime for those registered on Vodafone’s website between May 2007 and September 2008; the cost of using Vodafone Live mobile interest service between February 2007 and August 2008;
• the cost of Vodafone’s $1 per day casual rate charge between July and November 2008;
• The size of Vodafone’s 3G network between September 2008 and February 2009;
• The price of a Sony Ericsson W200 mobile phone between July and August 2007.
