Free call offer to tsunami-hit islands ends today

2degrees free call offer to tsunami-hit islands ends at midnight

* nearly 230,000 calls made *

2degrees Mobile’s offer of free calls to tsunami-hit islands Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga has been gratefully received by worried friends and family in New Zealand with nearly 230,000 calls made to date and over 760,000 free minutes of use .

2degrees announced it would be offering free calls up to a 5 minute cap from its New Zealand network to those countries that had been hardest hit by the recent tsunami in the Pacific starting midday on 1 October ending midnight tonight, October 15.

Eric Hertz, 2degrees chief executive officer says, “The team at 2degrees is delighted to have been able to help. It is impossible to put a value on how much it has benefitted people in an incredibly difficult and emotional time.”
From 00.01am 16 October the rate to call Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga returns to the original published rate of $1.44/min and 20cents per text.
