New workshop to transform ideas into exports

MEDIA RELEASE

New workshop to transform bright ideas into export opportunities

Using research and development to turn your ground breaking business idea into a successful export opportunity is the subject of Enterprise North Shore’s latest innovative workshop.

A one-off workshop on 19 November will encourage North Shore businesses to apply for TechNZ funding to research and develop their ideas and increase the chances of successfully getting them to the market place.

Enterprise North Shore, is a TechNZ regional partner for the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, and facilitates dollar for dollar funding for the research and development of new technologies, products, processes and services. Since October 2008, Enterprise North Shore has facilitated the investment of nearly $1million under the scheme.

Applying for funding is straightforward and, in some cases, can be granted within just a few days according to Chris Lock from Enterprise North Shore. “We can even assist companies to locate a specific expert for their requirements within New Zealand or find an international expert using the TechNZ’s Global Expert service.”

“Innovation is a major component of ongoing success for businesses,” says Terry Hoskins, chief executive of Enterprise North Shore. “Investing in your company’s future by developing new technologies and systems is crucial to ensuring growth and an enduring position in your target market. TechNZ investments are a critical and logical step towards accelerating your unique ideas to grow your business, and also grow the local economy.”

Hamish Campbell, TechNZ’s Manager Investment Services, says TechNZ supports emerging technology companies to undertake R&D projects and become successful exporters.

“Our regional partners, like Enterprise North Shore, play a key role in working with emerging companies to help them access TechNZ support.”

Next month’s workshop will highlight the different types of TechNZ funding options and how to apply.
