Second DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship

DHL Proudly Presents the Second DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship

Auckland, 1 October 2009 - DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, is calling for promising fashion exporters to enter the second DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship.

The scholarship is designed to identify New Zealand’s hottest up-and-coming fashion exporter and assist them in achieving international growth. It is open to New Zealand fashion designers who have been exporting for less than four years.

Strategic Account Manager, Fashion and Textile for DHL Express NZ, Jason Orlop, says, "Last year’s inaugural scholarship was a great success and the winners, Stolen Girlfriends Club, continue to show a competitive drive in expanding their label internationally.”

The winner of the scholarship will receive international freight to the value of NZ$10,000 and coaching in freight and logistics from DHL Express; as well as a tailored export mentoring package from Fashion Industry New Zealand (FINZ) and an annual FINZ membership.

Stolen Girlfriends Club, Creative Director, Marc Moore, says, “The DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship allowed us to push our expectations further and take our label to foreign markets. We also learnt a great deal from the team at DHL which has really helped with our approach to the business of fashion.”

FINZ, Executive Officer, Mapihi Opai, says, “This scholarship represents a significant opportunity for one lucky fashion designer to expand their export accounts and grow their business internationally. It’s so important to support New Zealand’s up-and-coming fashion exporters when they need it the most, particularly in the current economic climate.”

“The DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship enables DHL to continue to support the fashion industry. It is an important sector in New Zealand's export market and we are excited to be working with designers to help them realise their exporting potential," says Jason Orlop.

DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship opens for entries on Thursday, 1 October, 2009, and closes on Friday, 30 October, 2009. Application forms are available from the FINZ website: http://www.finz.co.nz/index.php
