Mud House Wines Recognised With Four Gold Medals

Mud House Wines has been awarded four gold medals at the prestigious New Zealand International Wine Show 2009. The awards, announced today, add to an impressive award tally for the winery’s 2008 and 2009 vintages.

The four gold medals were awarded to the 2009 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the 2009 Mud House South Island Pinot Gris, the 2009 Mud House Swan Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and the 2008 Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir.

In addition, silver medals were given to the 2008 Mud House Waipara Riesling and 2008 HAY MAKeR Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which continues to deliver an excellent Marlborough Sauvignon experience within its price range.

Now in its fifth year, the New Zealand International Wine Show is the country’s largest wine competition, this year drawing more than 2,000 entries. The 2009 awards were judged under the Chairmanship of Bob Campbell MW and a panel comprised of leading winemakers, several Masters of Wine and key industry representatives.
Mud House Wines CEO Baden Ngan Kee says, “This is an excellent result for Mud House Wines and builds on a very successful year of recognition from both New Zealand and international wine critics. These awards bring our gold and silver medal tally for our ‘08 and ‘09 wines to 40. Having just bottled the first of our 09 wines, receiving three gold medals so early on in the season bodes very well for the upcoming show circuit.”
“No matter which vintage you choose, you’re guaranteed to pick a winning Sauvignon Blanc with Mud House Wines. The 2008 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been a star performer over the past year, receiving the Best White Wine Award in the Shanghai International Wine Challenge, and a ‘Blue-Gold Top 100 Award’ in the Sydney International Wine Competition 2009. If the recent bounty of gold is anything to go by the recently released 2009 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is well on its way to international success too - due in great part to the ideal weather conditions and the outstanding efforts of our vineyard team and growers who gave us some stellar fruit parcels.”

Off the back of a best in class and gold medal accolade at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, our first ever release of South Island Pinot Gris ’08 proved too popular and quickly sold out. The US show awarded four gold medals to other 08’ wines including; 2008 Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the 2008 Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir, the 2008 Mud House Swan Central Otago Pinot Noir and the 2008 Mud House Swan Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

The Mud House gold medal winners in the New Zealand International Wine Show will join the Champions List, from which the trophy winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Auckland’s Crowne Plaza this Saturday (19 September).
